GCSE Revison Tips- Brainfoods

30th April 2014

There are brain boosting foods out there which can increase brain power, cognitive function and memory. These are great to snack on during your GCSE revision, and some you can ask your parents to incorporate into dinner.

1.Oily Fish ; Oily fish include salmon  trout, mackerel, herring, sardines, pilchards and kippers. They contain EPA and DHA- low DHA levels have been linked to a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and memory loss.

2. Get a brocolli boost;  A great source of vitamin K, which is known to enhance cognitive function and improve brainpower.

3Be brainy with blackberry's; Blackberry's are a mega source of vitamin C, which is thought to improve mental agility. Grab a handful now!

4. Stay hydrated; Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can affect the speed at which our brain works.

5Curb your sweet tooth; Avoid sugar crashes, by steering clear of sweets and stomach churning energy drinks. The crash you'll feel isn't worth the short boost, so opt instead for dried fruits. Coffee is a better substitute for energy drinks, but drink water where you can.
